Stretch the possibilities with Get up and Go

Discover a new balance in life and enhance your general health and well-being.

As part of Havant Borough Council’s ‘Get Up and Go!’ programme to encourage well-being and fitness for residents with mild to moderate health conditions, a new gentle yoga class will now be held in Waterlooville.

Taking place at Waterlooville Community Centre on Mondays at 11:15 am, the first session is free to try out, and then it's £6 a week.

Gentle yoga is performed at a slower pace, with less intense positions, and usually includes extended time for meditationyogic breath work, and relaxation.

A gentle class includes more warm-up movements, and the yoga postures are often held for longer times. Modifications are done to help people of all fitness levels enjoy the benefits of yoga without putting themselves at risk for injuries. There is a stronger emphasis on stretching, seated poses and low-impact movements in these classes.

Councillor Gwen Robinson, Deputy Leader of the Council, Cabinet Lead for Affordable Housing, Communities and CIL, said: “Get Up and Go enables anyone with mild to moderate health conditions to revitalize their well-being in a friendly, non-competitive environment.

"Anyone can do Gentle yoga, no matter your fitness level or physical health and this yoga class will be a place to centre yourself in an amazing space, at your own pace.”
