Hayling Island seafront is a popular area of Havant borough, enjoyed by visitors and residents alike.

The seafront includes more than three miles of beautiful beaches used for all kinds of activities – from kitesurfing and sailing to enjoying traditional fish and chips by the sea.

We have also compiled some beach safety information to make sure we can all enjoy the area.

Our ambition for Hayling Island

Havant Borough Council has revealed the Hayling Island draft ambition document as part of the Hayling Seafront strategy.

On 19 March 2024, we held a public engagement event on Hayling Island to share information about the council’s work there, but also to meet residents and give them the chance to ask questions and tell us their views.

Getting to the seafront

From Havant, Hayling Island seafront is accessible by car via the A3023 (Havant Road) and by bike or foot via the Hayling Billy Coastal Path.

Find the latest travel information for Hayling Island on the AA website.

Stagecoach bus services 30 and 31 link Havant bus station (close to the railway station) with Hayling seafront. Buses run every 15 minutes through the day, and hourly in evenings and Sundays. You can benefit from the UK government fare cap on both of these services, so it’s only £2 single per person!

There are many car parks along the seafront. Parking charges apply to cars, vans and motorhomes every day from 6am to 10pm, 7 days a week. There are no charges for blue badge holders or motorcycles. Parking is free overnight.

Visitors can also use the Hayling Ferry which runs between Hayling Island and Portsmouth. The ferry’s timetable is available online.
