Residents aged 60+ are invited to the first Live Longer Better event at Staunton Country Park; a chance to take part in fun activities and make positive lifestyle changes.
Live Longer Better, delivered by Havant Borough Council in partnership with Hampshire County Council, aims to support older adults in finding ways to stay independent, live life to the full and continue doing what they love. There are five key elements to the initiative: physical activity, falls prevention, connectivity, hydration and continence.
This FREE event will take place on Wednesday 24 September from 11am – 2pm, at Staunton Country Park (Havant, PO9 5HD).
Residents will be able to take part in a variety of activities, such as a Qigong taster session, history walks, inclusive walks, craft sessions, and health checks. There will also be a range of stalls offering friendly and informative health and wellbeing advice. Stallholders include: Community First, Horizon, and Havant & East Hants Mind. Additionally, those attending will receive free parking and a chance to win a £30 M&S gift voucher.
Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration and Communities, said: “This is a great opportunity, and I encourage residents to come along. Whether you have been active for a while or are just starting to exercise, why not join in with some fun activities to help you stay fit.”
“Taking the steps to improve your health and wellbeing now will help shape the next 10 years of your life.”
