Swinging into action as work begins on new play park

Work is set to begin to transform a popular children's park into an inclusive play area.

New play equipment is to be installed in to Bidbury Mead to make the play area more suitable for children of all ages from tots to teens.

The naturalistic design will include educational and interactive play that encompass lots of low-level sensory play, with wheelchair accessibility that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Construction work will begin in July, to remove the existing equipment and mounds before contractors, Proludic Ltd, take over the site to install swings, climbing equipment, progressive challenge trail and sensory panels.

A total of £110,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy (neighbourhood portion) is being invested in the play equipment thanks to Havant Borough Council.

Councillor Gwen Robinson, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Lead for Communities and Housing, said: “Having another inclusive play park in the borough is so important for the health and well-being of all children.

"Our vision at Havant Borough Council is that all our refurbished parks will have inclusive equipment, ensuring that all children, regardless of their ability, will be able to enjoy being outside playing and making new friends.

"I look forward to seeing the impact that this high quality, inclusive facility will bring to all children and their families."
