Everything slides into place for Front Lawn's new play area

HBC swings into action at Front Lawn, Leigh Park, with a complete refit of the site's play area now underway!

As part of Havant Borough Council's comprehensive programme of play area redevelopment, the facilities at Front Lawn will receive a radical update. As well as the old favourites such as swings and hopscotch, the redevelopment will include:

  • A bespoke tree-top tower
  • Sensory totem
  • Basket swing
  • Twist and turn game
  • Snakes & Ladders game
  • A family picnic area
  • and more besides!

Connected by a new pathway providing easy access to the facilities for families, work is expected to finish within four weeks. The refurbishment is being undertaken to the highest safety standards by specialist contractors with over 100 years’ experience.

Councillor Gwen Robinson (Deputy Leader and Cabinet Lead for Communities and Housing) said "I'm delighted to see works commence at Front Lawn, and yet another play area in the borough be refurbished to the highest standards. The council understands the positive value of play on our residents' wellbeing - both physical and mental - and looks forward to families enjoying the new facilities at Front Lawn for many years to come."

Although the Front Lawn play area will be unavailable to residents during the refit, the borough is home to over 30 dedicated play areas, as well as football pitches, tennis courts, skate parks, multi-use game areas and more.
