Illegal traders under the spotlight in Havant borough

Illegal traders will need to be on the lookout this weekend as council officers patrol our borough over the Mother's Day weekend.

Consent streets are a legal term for streets in which written consent must be obtained from the council to trade. It is an offence to trade without this approval, so officers will be visiting all consent streets in the borough to ensure the law is being upheld.

Council officers who have been looking for evidence and fly-posting that publicises illegal trading will continue to patrol over the weekend, and Civil Enforcement Officers will ensure lay-bys are not used inappropriately for illegal trading. If appropriate, any instances of illegal trading will have evidence collected for further action against them.
