Skills, employability and business challenges were just some of the topics covered at the latest Havant Business Partnership event held at Spectrum Workplace in Havant.
Established in 2019, the partnership - provided by Havant Borough Council in conjunction with HDSC (formerly Havant & South Downs College) and the Solent LEP - empowers businesses by bringing them together to network, develop new supply chains and to benefit from best practice.
With more than 15 local businesses in attendance, Councillor Alex Rennie (Leader of Havant Borough Council) opened the event. Topics for the evening covered regeneration, accessing relevant skills for business need and apprenticeships. Speakers included Councillor Tim Pike, Richard Barlow from HSDC, Michael Thornton from KSM Telecom and James Cook from Cybrid. The event concluded with an opportunity for attendees to network.
Aaron Butson - Assistant Principal at HSDC - said "As always, I'm delighted that the Havant Business Partnership continues to give businesses an opportunity to learn from each other and create new networks. Providing businesses with access to information on skills, recruitment and training can make a real, positive impact on the borough."
Kim Sawyer - Acting Chief Executive at Havant Borough Council - said "Businesses thrive because of the people they employ. I heard employers talking about how their investment into apprenticeships has produced great payback, however the process can be confusing. This meeting was our chance to connect industry to education and simplify those processes. More active engagement by businesses in future Havant Business Partnership events is only going to improve opportunities for all.”.
