More than £1million in grants issued to businesses in need

Havant Borough Council issued £1,064,000 in grants last week to 535 businesses that had previously qualified for additional restrictions grants (ARG) and new applicants have until midnight on Sunday 25 July to apply.

The additional restrictions grants are for businesses that have been severely affected by the extension of coronavirus restrictions.

A new round of funding has been made available following the delay to the end of lockdown until 19 July 2021.

Sector-specific grants are also available for those worst affected. Eligibility criteria apply.

Councillor Tim Pike, HBC Cabinet lead for finance, said:

“While most businesses in the borough have been able to reopen, some of the restrictions that remain in place continue to affect the cashflow of small businesses. For example, with reduced capacity in local pubs, taxi and private hire drivers may have fewer opportunities to earn.

“These grants are to support businesses that haven’t seen a return to pre-pandemic demand and will hopefully mean that they can keep going until all restrictions are lifted.”
