Havant Borough Council proudly flies the flag for our Armed Forces community

A special Armed Forces Day flag will fly outside the Plaza all week to show Havant Borough Council’s support for the Armed Forces community.

The flag was raised at a small, socially distanced ceremony at 11am this morning by the Mayor of Havant, Councillor Rosy Raines, and will remain until Armed Forces Day on Saturday 26 June.

Armed Forces Day is an annual nationwide occasion, with physical and virtual events being held across the country as well as the Armed Forces Day flag being raised on many buildings and famous landmarks.

Cllr Raines said: “In Havant borough we are privileged to have strong and deep connections with the Armed Forces, with serving personnel, veterans and their families making up an important part of our community.

“Armed Forces Day is a way to show our support and appreciation for the hard-working men and women in the services.”

Earlier this year, HBC re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant, a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
