Springwood play area in Waterlooville is set to be refurbished thanks to funding awarded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC).
The bid, called Levelling Up Parks, has granted £85k of funding to support an orchard, a community allotment and new play equipment that is inclusive, stimulating and fun.
Havant Borough Council is now asking you to have your say on play to help us shape the specification and design of the new play area to ensure it meets the needs of the local community.
Councillor Gwen Robinson, Cabinet Lead for Affordable Housing, Communities and CIL, said: “With Springwood already scheduled to be refurbished in 2023 this funding will assist us in our programme to update this popular play area in Waterlooville. By asking local residents what they would like here, it will give us the opportunity to create a play area that meets the needs of those that use it the most.”
The council has held consultations similar to this for the other play areas at Waterlooville, Emsworth, Bidbury Mead in Bedhampton and Front Lawn in Leigh Park. The feedback we’ve received can be found in the ‘Your Feedback on Play Areas’ section here.
The borough owns and maintains 42 play area sites. Over the coming years, the council will continue to invest funding towards improving these sites, in line with the council's corporate strategy.
These sites will be prioritised based on a number of factors. This includes the condition of the existing play equipment and anticipated life expectancy, the level of play value and enjoyment opportunity for children and the geographical spread and accessibility of existing high quality play provision.
