Greywell Shopping Centre gets an early spring clean from the Welcome Back fund

Floor slabs, street furniture and the playground at Greywell Shopping Centre in Leigh Park will be steam cleaned this month thanks to funding from the Welcome Back fund.

The cleaning has been organised by Havant Borough Council using money from the European Development Regional Fund (ERDF) Welcome Back Fund, made available to local authorities by the UK Government as part of the Covid-19 response.

Work will begin on Monday 28 February (weather permitting) and be completed in approximately two weeks.

The contractors, Gum Solutions, will be using a steam cleaning method, which uses no chemicals.

Councillor Tim Pike, Cabinet Lead at Havant Borough Council for Regeneration and Estates, said:

“We’ve always been determined that we should use this funding for practical things that our residents will value.

“The steam cleaning will make a visit to Greywell Shopping Centre a more visually pleasing experience and I’m confident that this will be well received.”
