Final round of grants for businesses affected by coronavirus now open

Businesses that saw their income affected by the Omicron variant and Plan B restrictions during December 2021 can now apply to Havant Borough Council (HBC) for the final round of Additional Restrictions Grants (ARG).

Applications will close at midnight on Wednesday 2 March.

The grants – ranging from £1,300 to £7,800 – will be awarded to businesses that can demonstrate a loss of income, with priority given to businesses that benefit the local community, economy and environment.

Businesses who successfully applied for an ARG during January 2022 cannot apply for this funding.

Councillor Tony Denton, HBC Cabinet lead for Finance, said:

“Thinking back to Christmas 2021, we were very much in the throes of the Omicron variant, which forced the government to move to Plan B restrictions. Christmas parties were cancelled, holidays delayed, and travel postponed.

“The previous round of ARG saw the council award more than £780,000 to local businesses.

“I encourage any business that faced a reduction in income during the festive period to apply now for this final round of grants, to help recover some of that lost income.”
