Easter bank holiday bin collections stay the same

Bin collections across the borough of Havant will not change during the Easter bank holiday.

Rubbish, recycling and garden waste due to be collected on Friday 2 April (Good Friday) and Monday 5 April (Easter Monday) will continue as usual.

Householders are reminded to have their bins out ready for collection by 7am on their scheduled day for crews to collect.

Hop to your recycling bin – but don’t just throw everything in. Here’s our tips for Easter recycling:

Easter eggs

After you have enjoyed your chocolate please put the aluminium foil and wrappers, with any plastic packaging into your rubbish bin.

The good news is that, like any other piece of cardboard, the outer packaging is 100% recyclable and can go in your green lidded wheeled bin. Collapsing the boxes first helps leave room in your bin for more recycling.

Hot cross bun bags

There’s one question to ask when it comes to recycling plastic – ‘is it the shape of a bottle?’ The golden rule is, if it is, it goes in your recycling bin.

That means plastic bags are a no-no, as are other soft plastics like bread bags and hot cross bun bags.
