A major milestone has been reached in the delivery of Havant Borough Council's Waterlooville Town Centre Public Realm Improvements project, following Hampshire County Council's approval of the Project Appraisal.
On Monday 19 October, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Highways and Passenger Transport, Cllr Steve Forster, approved the Project Appraisal for the Waterlooville Town Centre Public Realm Improvements at his Decision Day, authorising progression to the tender and construction stages.
You can read the report on Hampshire County Council's website.
The scheme is being delivered through a partnership between Havant Borough Council, as promoter and funder, and Hampshire County Council, as Highway Authority, to achieve the shared regeneration and transport objectives of the Waterlooville Town Centre Masterplan.
The Waterlooville Town Centre Public Realm Improvements project represents a significant investment in the town centre. It is designed to support local businesses, encourage further investment, and create a safer, more attractive and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and businesses.
The scheme aligns with the strategic priorities of both Hampshire County Council and Havant Borough Council. It forms part of a wider programme of town centre improvements developed through extensive public consultation as part of the Waterlooville Town Centre Masterplan adopted by Havant Borough Council in 2025.
New seating and enhanced public spaces will provide attractive places for people to rest and socialise, while increased footfall is expected to support local businesses and community wellbeing. Improved lighting and upgraded public spaces will also contribute to a safer and more family-friendly environment.
Construction is due to start on site in February 2027. You can view the final design and FAQs that will be updated as the project progresses into its final stages on our website.
