Havant Borough Council has partnered with Hampshire FA to secure the long-term future of walking football sessions for residents, ensuring the activity remains accessible and affordable for all.
The new partnership allows current and new participants to continue enjoying walking football and ensures these popular sessions can continue at a low cost.
Sessions take place every Friday at Front Lawn Community Hub (Sombourne Drive, Havant, PO9 5AN) from 4.30pm until 6pm, with a chance to chat and enjoy a coffee before playing.
To encourage participation, sessions will be FREE until 29 May. From June onwards, sessions will cost no more than £3, helping to keep football accessible to everyone in the community.
The sessions are being delivered as part of Hampshire FA’s Just Play programme – a national recreational football initiative designed to make playing football casual, flexible, and inclusive for adults of all abilities.
Councillor Antonia Harrison, Cabinet Lead for Communities, Active Wellbeing & Leisure, said: “Residents are encouraged to come along, get active, and become part of a welcoming walking football community.
“The sessions are designed to not only improve physical health, but also to enhance mental wellbeing and create stronger community connections through sport.”
