Thanks to a government initiative, a unique opportunity has arisen to make high impact change at a very local level, with the Pride in Place programme providing ten years of investment into both Leigh Park and West Cowplain (Wecock).
The Chair of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board will provide strategic leadership for the programme from the outset, developing the Pride in Place Plan and supporting partnerships to secure real change.
Two vacancies exist for the role of Chair – one for Leigh Park and one for West Cowplain (Wecock). Each will be an independent Chair – someone who can bring communities together to share their ideas in an open and collaborative way. Their primary role is to be a champion for their place and to embody the community-led spirit of the programme.
The Chair will act as the public face of the Neighbourhood Board, using their strong local knowledge and clear leadership skills to bring together communities and to deliver real outcomes whilst maintaining a consensus that reflects local requirements.
Those applying must have a deep understanding of their local area and be able to evidence their ability to negotiate with disparate groups, inspire others to act and to deliver outcomes through effective prioritisation and a clear strategic approach.
Councillor Phil Munday – Leader of Havant Borough Council – said “With such profound, long-term investment into areas of the borough that can produce real benefits for local residents, I urge all those with the skills, the commitment and the community ties to Leigh Park or West Cowplain to seriously consider the Board Chair roles. Those with a strong understanding of their local communities are best placed to make every pound invested into the borough count for those who need it.”
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact prideinplace@havant.gov.uk.
Basic expenses are covered in the role. Applicants may also be required to have a DBS check as well as financial due diligence checks.
