Residents over the age of 50 are being offered functional fitness MOTs to kickstart their new year.
The free 30-minute assessments are designed to test strength, balance, flexibility and coordination to help people make lifestyle changes in becoming more physically active, improve their fitness, have a healthy body weight and stay strong and independent in later life.
Taking place on Wednesday 28 January at Hayling Island Community Centre, PO11 0HB, anyone wishing to take part will be asked to demonstrate activities such as sit to stand, one leg balance, and grip strength that will identify areas that may need to be improved.
Once completed, refreshments will be available and a chance to talk to stall holders such as Horizon Leisure Trust and Physio-logical, and learn more about how the Live Longer Better campaign can support you.
Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration and Communities, said: “This is a great opportunity for residents who would like to find out more about their fitness levels and how to stay physically and mentally healthy."
"Appointments can be made in advance, or you can just turn up on the day."
