Weekly food waste collections are starting to be introduced in some areas of the borough.
As the new collections get underway, dedicated food waste lorries will begin appearing on local streets to collect from 10,000 households in the pilot area of Havant Borough.
Owing to the collection routes we are unable to inform you of specific wards, or postcode areas, however if you are part of the pilot area you would have already received your introduction letter, along with your indoor and outdoor caddies to recycle leftovers and unused food.
If you are unsure whether your household falls into the pilot area, log into our portal and enter your postcode. Households taking part will see scheduled collection days, for rubbish, recycling, garden and food waste.
Food waste will be collected every week by a separate lorry on the same day as your rubbish and recycling, making it easy for households to recycle as part of their daily routine.
Collections will begin, in the pilot areas, week commencing 20 April, so if you have your caddies, please start using them the week before and place them out for collection on your usual bin collection day.
Recycling food waste is one of the quickest, easiest habits residents can adopt — and even small amounts really add up.
