Armed Forces Day 2026

Havant Borough Council will be honouring the men and women that serve our nation at home and overseas by raising the Armed Forces Day Flag.

In a ceremony on Monday 22 June, the specially designed flag will be hoisted over the Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant, and will fly until Armed Forces Day itself, on Saturday 27 June.

The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Paul Tansom, will attend the service led by Canon Tom Kennar from St Faith’s Church, Havant.

Residents are invited to watch the short ceremony, which starts at 10.30am, and pay tribute to past and present service personnel, their partners and families. After the flag raising there will be refreshments, information stalls and a performance from the Veterans Outreach Choir in the Hollybank room.

Cllr Tansom said: "Havant Borough Council is proud to mark Armed Forces Day each year. It is a way to show our respect and admiration for the tireless work carried out on our behalf by the brave men and women of the Armed Forces.

“I would like to invite members of the public to the Plaza to attend the ceremony, as well as service personnel, veterans and cadets.

“Armed Forces Day is a great way to demonstrate our thanks to the wonderful men and women who do so much to keep us safe throughout the year. Please join us for the ceremony to show them they have your support."

Havant Borough Council received the highest badge of honour, an Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award in 2023 for its outstanding support towards the Armed Forces community.

We re-signed the Covenant in November 2024, highlighting the council’s dedication to providing support for servicemen and women, veterans and their families.
