Havant Borough Council is encouraging residents to be prepared for the forthcoming elections in May 2026.
This year’s local elections take place on Thursday 7 May 2026, electors will vote for Borough Councillors and County Councillors.
What you need to do:
- Check you are registered to vote ahead of the deadline on Monday 20 April.
- If you’re planning on voting at a polling station, check you have valid photo ID.
- If you don’t have accepted ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by 28 April by going to: gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
- If you plan to vote by post, you need to apply before 5pm on 21 April. To apply, go to: gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
- If you want someone to vote on your behalf (a proxy), you have until 5pm on Tuesday 28 April to apply for a proxy vote. To apply, go to: gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
- Check where your polling station is before you go to vote, as it may have changed: wheredoivote.co.uk
