Residents are invited to try fun, uplifting circle dancing sessions at Leigh Park Community Centre (Dunsbury Way, Havant, PO9 5BG), every Thursday at 11am.

These sessions are designed for people living with dementia and their carers, offering a friendly and relaxed way to get moving and connect with others. Sessions are just £3 a week, or £10 for a block of six (which is less than £2 a week!).

Delivered by Recapture Life CIC, circle dancing uses uplifting music from around the world and simple, gentle movements to help participants stay active, improve balance and coordination, and boost overall wellbeing. Movements can be carried out seated or standing, making the activity fully accessible to beginners and those with mobility challenges.

The initiative has been funded by Sport England, and forms part of a programme of activity coordinated by the Havant Place Partnership which is led by Havant Borough Council.

Councillor Antonia Harrison, Cabinet Lead for Community Wellbeing, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this activity in Leigh Park. Circle dancing offers a great opportunity for people living with dementia and their carers to stay active, meet others, and experience the fun that movement and music can bring.

“We’re proud to work with our partners to provide activities that help improve physical and mental wellbeing across our community.”

If you would like to attend, booking is encouraged - please contact Lesley Barton on 07832 946026 or lesley@recapturelife.co.uk or visit Get Up and Go's website.
