Activities are taking place across the borough during Havant Borough’s Big Green Week, encouraging the local community to come together in support for action to protect the planet.
The Great Big Green Week takes place from 6 – 14 June 2026 and is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
As part of the week, Warmer Homes will be coming into the Plaza Atrium (Civic Centre Road, Havant, PO9 2AX) on Wednesday 10 June. Residents can drop in any time between 9am and 2pm to find out about energy efficiency upgrades and low carbon heating. For more information about Warmer Homes and the services they offer, please visit their website.
Two wildflower walks will also be taking place on Friday 12 June at Sinah Common, Hayling Island - a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in wild plants. There will be time to take photographs and simply enjoy the flora and wildlife. Timings are as follows:
- Morning walk: 10am - 12pm
- Afternoon walk: 1.30pm - 3.30pm
For more information, and to book a place, please go to Get Up and Go’s website. Please note, no dogs are allowed on these walks.
Councillor Antonia Harrison, Cabinet Lead for Communities, Active Wellbeing & Waterlooville Regeneration, said "The Great Big Green Week is a chance to take action as a community and work together to help protect the climate and nature.
"Whether you organise your own event, join something local, or encourage someone to get involved, every action makes a difference."
Other events will be taking place across the borough, such as litter picks, coffee mornings, repair cafes and drop-in sessions. To check out a list of events, please go to Havant Climate Alliance’s website.
