Havant Borough Council has assisted its third small local business into Leigh Park through the Vacant Shop Scheme.

Aiming to encourage more footfall into Greywell Shopping Centre and Park Parade in Leigh Park, the Vacant Shop Scheme invited businesses and organisations who were thinking of relocating or expanding to apply for the grant.

Just Sweetz and Treatz is the most recent new shop to welcome customers after they officially opened their doors following a ribbon cutting ceremony with Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration and Communities.

The dessert and sweet shop received a grant of £10,000 to relocate and refurbish a unit in the Greywell Shopping Centre.

Councillor Harris said: “The Vacant Shop Scheme is all about breathing new life into our local shopping areas. I am in full support of this great initiative and it is fantastic to see businesses like this thriving in Leigh Park. I wish them the best of luck.”

Shelley Somes, owner of Just Sweetz and Treatz, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer a place where people can enjoy a little treat – from home baked goods and delicious desserts, to hampers and pick and mix sweets, there is something for everyone!

"Thank you to Havant Borough Council for giving us this opportunity.”

Please note: This scheme is no longer open to new applications as all grants have now been allocated.
