Remembrance Sunday services and parades

Residents are being invited to memorial services and parades in the borough to mark Remembrance Sunday on 9 November.

The events in Havant, Hayling Island, and Emsworth will commemorate those who have lost their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts.

The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Munazza Faiz, said “Remembrance Sunday honours the sacrifices that our Armed Forces and civilians have made to protect our lives.”

“I would like to invite all residents to join us at the memorial service and parade in Havant to pay our respects and remember those who have given their lives to defend our freedom.”

Details of the service and parade are as follows:

Havant – DL Major General James Balfour CBE will be in attendance, along with the Mayor of Havant, and Alan Mak MP.

9.30am - Civic Remembrance Service at St Faith’s Church, West Street, Havant.

10.20am – Remembrance Sunday Parade assembles at the Royal British Legion Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Brockhampton Lane, Havant.

10.30am – Parade marches to St Faith’s Church, West Street, Havant.

10.45am - Public Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial in West Street, Havant.

Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band.

 

Other services taking place are:

Hayling Island - Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Tansom and Deputy Mayoress Mrs Dawn Tansom in attendance.

10:40 am - Parade leaves Hollow Lane, marching along Elm Grove to the Cenotaph in St Mary’s Road for the laying of wreaths, before moving to St Mary’s Church for the Remembrance Service.

 

Emsworth – Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Tansom and the Deputy Mayoress Mrs Dawn Tansom in attendance.

2:15 pm - Parade leaves Queen Street heading to Church Path, Emsworth

2:45 pm - Remembrance service inside St James Church, Church Path, Emsworth, PO10 7DP
