With one week remaining, Havant Borough Council is urging residents, visitors and businesses to have their say on the future development of the borough.
The public consultation on the borough’s draft Local Plan - Building a Better Future - closes on Tuesday 1 July 2025.
Over the past seven weeks, more than 500 people have attended nine exhibition events, and six resident meetings held across the Borough of Havant, speaking to council officers and giving their feedback on this important strategy.
The Leader of Havant Borough Council, Councillor Phil Munday, said: “We have had an excellent response to the consultation so far, with an encouraging number of survey responses and good attendance at the events we have run.
“We have worked hard to ensure as many people as possible have been able to find out more about our draft Local Plan and have been able to take part in this important consultation.
“The draft Local Plan covers the future development of our borough into the future – covering not just housing, but also places to work, shops, leisure facilities and how we will protect our wonderful natural spaces. This is the best chance for our communities to have their say on what the plan covers.
Alongside the Local Plan, the council is also consulting on the Waterlooville Town Centre Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) and St. Faith’s Conservation Area Review. These are available to comment via the same channels.
Councillor Munday added: “It is vital that we have an updated Local Plan so we can maintain control over development in the borough; without one, we are vulnerable to development being imposed upon us.
“Now is the best opportunity for anyone who lives, works or visits the area to shape and influence the final version of the Local Plan, so – whether you support or oppose it - please do take part and let us know your thoughts before the consultation closes”.
To find out more information and to have your say, visit www.havant.gov.uk/localplan and submit your comments before midnight on Tuesday 1 July 2025.
Alternatively, paper copies of the draft Local Plan and survey can be collected from all libraries and community centres in the borough, with a pre-paid envelope to return to the council. Please ensure these are posted no later than 1 July.
