Hygiene banks for the donation of new and unused hygiene products

New hygiene banks have been set up around the borough to help those experiencing hygiene poverty.

Residents can donate new and unused hygiene products to hygiene banks in various locations across the borough (including Havant, Waterlooville, Leigh Park, Emsworth, and Hayling Island). These banks will be regularly emptied, with the content redistributed through food banks and community pantries for those in need to access them.

You can donate items such as:

  • Toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel
  • Hand soap, moisturising cream and deodorant
  • Incontinence products and sanitary products
  • New clean underwear (in its original packaging).

Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration & Communities, said: “Hygiene poverty is a rising issue in society, with many people unable to afford everyday hygiene products. These new hygiene banks will help give people access to the basics they need to stay clean.

“If you have any new and unused products, please consider donating them to a hygiene bank near you. Every item donated will make a difference.”
