Havant Borough Council is set to launch another green skills initiative to support the borough's transition to Net Zero.

The council is seeking proposals from training providers and businesses to help support residents and employed people into green skills for the future.

Using UK Shared Prosperity funding, this initiative will help individuals to upskill or gain qualifications related to green skills. It will also enable Havant Borough residents and businesses to be ready for the move to a green economy.

The criteria for applying is as follows:

  • The training provider must be delivering the qualifications themselves
  • Businesses or employees must have a Havant Postcode
  • Eligible businesses will be no more than fifty employees in size
  • Qualifications paid for are core Green Skills and not pathways for relevant trades
  • Qualifications cannot be double-funded but can be additions to courses participants are already enrolled on, for instance Apprenticeships.

All grants will be paid upon completion of qualifications and monitored monthly during delivery. All reporting and evidence of impact must be submitted to Economic_Development@havant.gov.uk by the end of March 2026. No further payments will be made beyond 31 March 2026.

Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration and Communities, said: “Following on from the previous initiative, we are proud to offer another opportunity for residents to access the knowledge and training needed to contribute to a sustainable future.”
