Small and new businesses, including startups, are being invited to bid for new funding through a Business Support Grant Scheme in Havant.

The Economic Development Team at Havant Borough Council has secured £20,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to be allocated to startup and small businesses to help them grow.

The grant can be used to support costs such as, but not limited to, the cost of sales and marketing and exploring new markets and products. Applications from all sectors are invited, including companies looking to explore growth in the green economy.

Grant support is available with a maximum of £4,000 awarded for up to 50% match funding contributed by the employer.

The grant scheme is open throughout August, closing at midnight on 31 August, 2025. Businesses can find out more information and apply at: Havant Business Support Grant | Havant Borough Council.

Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration and Communities, said: “Small businesses are vital for the economic and social health of our communities, and I am delighted that this funding has been secured to help give our local businesses a boost.

“This scheme is just one of the ways our Economic Development Team can help businesses in our borough to thrive, so I would encourage anyone who thinks their business may be eligible to go online and see if the scheme is open to them.”

Havant Borough Council's Corporate Strategy focuses on three themes of wellbeing, pride in place, and growth. The growth theme is centred on building a better future by growing our local economy and aims to do this by enabling and facilitating regeneration in our borough. The Business Support Grant Scheme is designed to help new businesses get off the ground and enable small businesses to grow, bringing trade and employment to our borough.
