Havant Borough Council will be honouring the men and women that serve our nation at home and overseas by raising the Armed Forces Day Flag.

In a ceremony on Monday 23 June, the specially-designed flag will be hoisted over the Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant, and will fly until Armed Forces Day itself, on Saturday 28 June.

The Mayor of Havant, Cllr Munazza Faiz, will attend the service led by Reverend Sandra Haggan from St Faith’s Church, Havant.

Residents are invited to watch the short ceremony, which starts at 10.30 am, and pay tribute to past and present service personnel, their partners and families. After the flag raising there will be refreshments, information stalls and a performance from the Veterans Outreach Support Choir in the Hollybank room.

The Mayor of Havant said: “Havant Borough Council always marks Armed Forces Day as a demonstration of our respect and admiration for the tireless work carried out on our behalf by the brave men and women of the Armed Forces.

“I would be delighted to see members of the public at the Plaza to witness the ceremony as well as service personnel, veterans and cadets.

"Armed Forces Day is a great way to say thank you to these wonderful men and women who do so much to keep us safe all year round. Please come and join our ceremony and show them they have your support.”

Havant Borough Council received the highest badge of honour, an Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award in 2023 for its outstanding support towards the Armed Forces community.

The council also re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant in November 2024, highlighting its dedication to providing support for servicemen and women, veterans and their families.
