Havant Borough Council has recognised the outstanding achievement of a resident who has had a positive and wide-reaching impact on the borough in this year's Havant Honorary Citizen Award.
Waterlooville resident, Nancy Fellows, was presented with the prestigious award this week during the annual meeting of the Full Council.
The Havant Honorary Citizen Award acknowledges an individual’s outstanding performance in their given field, which has inspired residents and has positively impacted the Borough of Havant.
The award is a chance to celebrate and highlight who local Councillors had nominated from the community, who had made a real difference. Chosen from three nominees, by a board of six Councillors from across all parties, the award recognised the contribution to educational, cultural, civic or economic life.
Nancy - the founder of Creatful - started a social enterprise, providing spaces for people to connect using creativity, four years ago.
Creatful provides space for people to connect using mindful creativity, something Nancy believes is an underutilised wellbeing tool that should be accessible to all.
The cross-generational and inclusive space offers a place for everyone to feel welcome and safe. Events take place in Waterlooville, Havant, Portsmouth and other parts of Hampshire.
Creatful is a social enterprise – that means whatever money is made from the workshops goes straight back into delivering more for the community.
Councillor Tansom, who nominated Nancy, said, “I am so proud that we are able to mark the contribution Nancy has given, and continues to give. Celebrating her generosity of spirit and the incredible energy she brings to all who attend the sessions, and those who volunteer to help, goes above and beyond.
“The effort and passion Nancy puts into supporting the local community is awe-inspiring, and she is incredibly deserving of this award. Recognising the tireless work that she does for the residents of the Borough of Havant.
