Anders Hall in Waterlooville has been given a new lease of life, thanks to the considerable efforts of the learning disability charity Mencap and Havant Borough Council. The building has been successfully leased to Growing Places - a local charity providing a range of services including school, holiday and youth clubs, nursery provision and more.

Although Anders Hall is owned by Mencap, it is on Havant Borough Council land so close working was required to achieve this successful result. Moving from their former premises in Mill Road, Waterlooville, Growing Places already have lofty ambitions for their new site and propose to offer:

  • Free Youth groups
  • Holiday clubs inclusive to children with special rights
  • Parent support
  • Second hand clothes sales
  • A community Fridge
  • Parent and Toddler groups (supported by health visitors and Citizen Advice)
  • Craft workshops
  • Toddler physical sessions

Councillor Gwen Robinson - Deputy Leader of the council - said "The lease of Anders Hall to Growing Places is welcomed. I for one am delighted to see the site become a real focus for young families and a welcome community asset. I thank Mencap for their efforts in achieving this excellent achievement and look forward to seeing Anders Hall thrive under the enthusiasm and drive of Growing Places."

Jackie Warren - CEO of Growing Places - said “We are thrilled to be the new lease holders for Anders Hall as this means that we can continue to offer services which currently support over 1,000 families, and help build a sustainable future for the community of Jubilee Park.”
