Get Up and Go secures funding to extend its services

Havant Borough Council's Get Up and Go programme - aimed at helping residents with physical/mental health conditions stay active through various physical activities - has been awarded funding to extend its services.

Get Up and Go has received £72,400 of funding from Hampshire Active Health, which will go towards the growth of the programme - including developing new personalised activities, increasing the capacity of courses, and increasing resident participation.

The programme is open to people of all ages and experience levels - everyone deserves to have fun and stay active!

Upcoming courses for 2024 include:

As part of the successful funding bid, an exciting job opportunity has arisen for Physical Activity Project Officer.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with community organisations and physical activity providers to co-ordinate the successful Get up and Go Programme and other physical activity initiatives. The role administers the daily operations of the Get Up and Go project, including the management of the website, participant bookings and marketing. It provides support to our most inactive residents, enabling them to become more active.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Active Wellbeing Team as part of the wider Community Team at Havant Borough Council. As an ambitious and innovative team, we aim to create accessible environments for residents to lead physically active, healthy lives by developing sustainable services, infrastructure, and partnerships.
