Work starts on the latest playground refit at Springwood Avenue

As part of Havant Borough Council's ongoing refurbishment programme of play areas across the borough, work starts on the refit of the Springwood Avenue play area in Waterlooville on Monday 24 July.

The refurbishment is expected to take three weeks, and will entail the complete removal of existing equipment, and the installation of a wide range of kit which will allow children to swing, spin, rock, climb - and more besides!

Following a natural theme, the play area will incorporate Robinia wood from sustainable forestry, sourced by specialist contractors with over 50 years experience in providing the highest quality items for childrens' play.

Councillor Gwen Robinson (Deputy Leader and Cabinet Lead for Communities and Housing) said "Yet another play area in the borough is receiving a first class refit! A key priority for the council is the physical and mental wellbeing of its residents, and projects like this show our intent and commitment. It is heartening to know the revitalised play area will provide enjoyment for so many families for years to come."

Although the Springwood Avenue play area will be unavailable to residents during the refit, the borough is home to over 30 dedicated play areas, as well as football pitches, tennis courts, skate parks, multi-use game areas and more.
