Households that pay to receive Havant Borough Council’s Garden Waste Collection Service can now renew their subscription for another year.
Current customers are being given priority to renew their garden waste subscription which runs from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.
The optional fortnightly scheme lets residents subscribe online, by telephone or in-person for a 140-litre or 240-litre wheeled bin that is collected from the kerbside for as little as £53 a year, working out at less than £5 a month.
Councillor Lulu Bowerman, Lead for Commercial services, said: “Let us come to you and continue to make your gardening life easier by re-subscribing for your garden waste collection this year.
"It will be picked up from your doorstep, and it takes the hassle out of booking your trip to to the tip. You also won’t have to put heavy, dirty and wet garden waste in your car boot.
“Our garden waste scheme is popular, and we are reminding our current customers to make sure they renew annual subscriptions to reserve their space for this year.
“More than 5,000 tonnes of garden waste is collected from residents every year and is composted locally, helping to tackle climate change and protect our soils. Using our garden waste service is an easy way to cut your carbon footprint and makes a real impact.’
"If you are currently not a customer of the garden waste service and would like to subscribe for the first time we will also be accepting new customers from 1 June."
Existing customers must renew their subscription before Friday 28 April to ensure their collections continue. Renewing after that date may lead to a disruption to your garden waste collections.
We will accept garden waste such as:
- grass cuttings
- hedge cuttings
- small branches
- leaves, weeds
- real Christmas trees (cut down to fit within the bin)
- prunings
- waste fruit and vegetables grown directly within the property’s garden.
