The Council is responsible for the licensing of a wide range of activities and premises.
The Licensing Team issues licences and permit to ensure public confidence and safety and to minimise crime and disorder, nuisance and other disturbance to residents, visitors and businesses from licensable activities.
The Licensing Team is available at following times throughout the week:
- Monday 9am–5pm
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 2–5pm
- Friday 9am–4.30pm

Consultation on New Street Trading Policy
The Council is in the process of adopting the relevant provisions of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 in relation to street trading consent, and designating all streets in the Borough as ‘consent streets.’ The Council intends to adopt a street trading policy in respect of applications, decision-making and enforcement. The draft policy was considered at a meeting of the Licensing Committee held on 26 June 2023 before being approved for public consultation.
