As part of the Waterlooville Town Centre Masterplan, Havant Borough Council can now reveal the detailed agenda for the Festival of Ideas event, taking place from Monday 22 January to Thursday 25 January 2024.

This latest stage of engagement invites attendees to interactive workshops that will cover several key themes around the future of the town centre, such as living, play, leisure, retail and access.

The four-day festival of ideas will be taking place at various times throughout the week:

  • Monday 22 January – Welcome event, 6pm-9pm
  • Tuesday 23 January – The Town Past and Present, 9.30am, 11am, 1.30pm and 6pm
  • Wednesday 24 January – Designing Our Future, 9.30am, 11am, 1.30pm and 6pm
  • Thursday 25 January – Making It Happen – 9.30am, 11am, 1.30pm and 6pm

A full list of the programme can be found here.

During the Festival of Ideas, a previously empty shop will become the place to share ideas and contribute to making a better town centre. Previously known as the GAME shop in the pedestrianised precinct – 95 London Road, Waterlooville, PO7 7EQ will be transformed into a hub, bringing together influential minds that represent key community groups, organisations, businesses and local knowledge to collaboratively explore and shape a future for the town centre.

The work accomplished each day will inform the following day’s discussions and initiatives.  Daytime and evening sessions are being held to enable everyone to attend and view the progress of the Masterplan as it develops.

Councillor Alex Rennie, Leader of Havant Borough Council said “We would like to invite everyone to attend as many of these events as their time allows.  We appreciate that everyone has time constraints so by running sessions throughout the day until the evening we hope that everyone will find time to take part.

“This project will only be successful with the input, contributions and ideas from those who live, work and visit the town centre – your perspectives, your experiences, and your aspirations are crucial in designing your future town centre.”
