As part of the next phase of consultation for the Waterlooville Town Centre Masterplan, Havant Borough Council is inviting residents, business owners and shoppers to a ‘Festival of Ideas’.
Taking place from Monday 22 January to Thursday 25 January 2024 the event aims to bring together influential minds that represent key community groups, organisations, businesses, and local knowledge to collaboratively explore and shape a future for the town centre. Embracing sustainability, inclusivity, and smart economic growth.
This latest stage of consultation invites attendees to interactive workshops that will cover several key themes around the future of town centre, such as living, play, leisure, retail, access, and movement.
The workshops are planned to take place at various times throughout the week:
- Monday 22 January – Introduction & Event Launch 6pm – 9pm
- Tuesday 23 January – Workshop sessions 9.30am - 3.30pm, followed by a drop-in session 6pm – 9 pm
- Wednesday 24 January – Workshop sessions 9.30am - 3.30pm, followed by a drop-in session 6pm – 9pm
- Thursday 25 January – Workshop sessions 9.30am - 3.30pm, with a final presentation at 7.30pm. Followed by time to explore the final gallery of work and ideas until 9pm.
Deputy Leader of Havant Borough Council, Councillor Gwen Robinson, said: “The regeneration of Waterlooville Town Centre will only be successful if we deliver what is needed, for now and for future generations.
“The Festival of Ideas is an opportunity for us to listen to other perspectives, experiences, and aspirations that will contribute to building a plan that truly represents the voices of the people who care about the future of Waterlooville, all of which will be considered as the Masterplan is formed.
“Together, we can build a community that reflects the needs and dreams of every resident.”
Taking place at 95 London Road, Waterlooville PO7 7EQ – previously known as the GAME shop in the pedestrianised precinct - The empty shop will become a place to share ideas and contribute to making a better town centre.
