PLEASE NOTE: This is a correction and replacement of the press release first sent on Tuesday 19 March.

An exciting new housing product is coming to Havant delivered by Housing companies Winchester Housing Group and Rentplus. The partnership will help 21 new affordable rent-to-buy homes become available with the support of Havant Borough Council.

The new homes will help first-time buyers onto the ladder with the scheme aimed at those on the Council housing waiting list, allowing them access to affordable rent and a chance to eventually own their own home.

The homes are part of the Redrow development in Bartons Road, Havant that will offer those families on the Hampshire Home Choice waiting list, who fit the criteria, the opportunity to have a home with an affordable rent of 80% of the local market rent for a minimum period of five years. At the end of their tenancy occupiers will be given the chance to buy their rental home, and given a 10% deposit by Rentplus in order to achieve this.

The Leader of Havant Borough Council, Councillor Alex Rennie said, “I could not be more proud to see the fantastic Rentplus scheme brought to Havant, delivered in partnership with the Winchester Housing Group. For those on our housing list that dreamed of owning their own home this is a wonderful opportunity to get on the housing ladder. I’m pleased to see the scheme being rolled out at the Bartons Road site and I’m already looking forward to seeing how we can deliver more Rentplus schemes elsewhere in the Borough.”
