Everyone has their view and we want to hear yours

Havant Borough Council’s online panel is a group of residents who volunteer to take part in questionnaires and polls to express their views on council services and the local area.  These views will help us to shape services and make decisions that are right for our residents.

Panel members are asked to take part in no more than six surveys a year. These could be short polls consisting of one or two questions or longer surveys of up to 20 questions. They will be spread out throughout the year and will cover a wide range of topics to help answer questions on the borough that matter now – be it a service you receive or a masterplan for the future.

All of your answers will be held in confidence, and will meet General Data Protection Regulations. Please read our privacy policy for more information.

Occasionally we may invite panel members to take part in other types of research such as focus groups but there is no obligation to do so. You can take part in as much or as little of the research as you would like.

To join our online panel you must live or work in the Havant borough and be aged over 18 - register here.

Frequently asked questions

We will ask you to take part in online surveys with questions relating to council services or the local area. Surveys may cover a range of topics such as recycling or environmental issues. All surveys will be sent to you by email.

We may also invite you to take part in focus groups about specific topics.

No, there is no obligation to respond to surveys that you receive.

The results of the survey will be used by the Council to help improve the services you receive.

Survey reports will not contain any detail concerning individuals. Any views/ opinions will be quoted anonymously and not attributed to any individual. Results may be filtered into demographics. For example, residents from Waterlooville are less satisfied with a service than residents from Emsworth.

This is so we can filter responses into the main demographic areas, for example Havant, Waterlooville, Leigh Park, Wecock, Hayling Island and Emsworth.

We use demographic data, such as age, to ensure that as far as possible all groups in the community are represented. It also helps us select special interest groups for particular topics of interest to them.

Responses to surveys are confidential and are not used individually but grouped together when analysing results. We can then see if there are any differences in opinions between different groups (e.g. between male and female, or between people in different age bands).

We will review the panel yearly but if you wish to have your name removed you can email yourviews@havant.gov.uk, and your details will be removed from the list.
