This year, 2022, Her Majesty the Queen becomes the first British Monarch to have served for 70 years, having ascended to the throne on 6 February 1952.
The Platinum Jubilee will be celebrated throughout 2022 across the country, Commonwealth and the globe as communities collectively come together to mark this truly historic occasion.
We will have an extended bank holiday in the summer, Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June, to give people an opportunity to celebrate the milestone. There are several national events and reflections planned to mark Her Majesty's 70-year reign.
Some of the many national celebration events include:
- The Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour)
- Platinum Jubilee Pageant
- Platinum Party at the Palace
- The Cazoo Derby at Epsom Downs
- Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral
Find out more about the celebrations on the Platinum Jubilee website. The site includes an interactive map so you can easily find out about the events and special activities taking place and where they are happening.
The Big Jubilee Lunch – 2 to 5 June 2022
The Big Jubilee Lunch encourages communities to come together, celebrate their connections and get to know each other a little bit better and will bring the Jubilee celebrations into the heart of every community. Find out more about the Big Jubilee Lunch on the Eden Project Communities website.
The Queen’s Green Canopy
Everyone, from individuals to community groups, villages, cities, counties, schools and corporations, is being encouraged to plant a tree for the Jubilee. The initiative began in October 2021, at the beginning of the tree planting season, and will continue through to the end of the Jubilee year in 2022.
