The NHS has already made an excellent start to rolling out coronavirus vaccines to more than three quarters of a million people who need them most. The vaccine has been delivered in hundreds of hospital hubs, local GP-led services and care homes, at the same time as providing care to all those who need it and the rising number of coronavirus cases.
The NHS will continue to increase its capacity to deliver the vaccine with additional local vaccination services, hospital hubs and vaccination centres coming online over the coming weeks.
When will I receive my vaccine?
It’s important that we remember this will be a marathon, not a sprint, offering vaccines to the tens of millions of people in the priority groups identified by the JCVI is likely to be done by late spring.

What should I do while I wait for my vaccine?
You have an important part to play in this:
- please don’t contact the NHS to seek a vaccine, they will contact you;
- when they do contact you, please attend your booked appointments;
- and please continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus and save lives.
The large increase in cases hospitals are seeing and the emergence of a new variant of the virus also show that we cannot let our guard down now and even those who have received a vaccine still need to follow social distancing guidance.
NHS staff are doing an incredible job to deliver what it is the largest vaccination programme in our history, at the same time as continuing to be there for everyone who needs care.
Don't fall victim to a vaccine scam
There have been reports of scams circulating relating to the vaccination, please remember the following:
- the vaccine is free of charge
- the NHS will never ask you for your bank account or card details
- the NHS will never ask you for your PIN or banking password
- the NHS will never arrive unannounced to your home to administer the vaccine
- the NHS will never ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of personal documents such as your passport, driving licence, bills or pay slips
- if you receive a call you believe to be fraudulent, hang up
- if you are suspicious about an email you have received, forward it to firstname.lastname@example.org
- suspicious text messages should be forwarded to the number 7726, which is free of charge
- if you believe you are the victim of a fraud, please report this to Action Fraud as soon as possible by calling 0300 123 2040 or visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk
