Havant Borough Council is encouraging local people who want to make a difference in the community to consider becoming a local councillor.
With local elections being held every year the council is keen to encourage those who want to give something back to their local community or feel strongly about something in the borough to step forward and make a difference.
Nick Leach, Havant Borough Councils Senior Lawyer and Returning Officer said “Anyone who has the desire to make a difference and help to shape the future of the local community can do so by becoming a local councillor.
“You don’t have to be affiliated to a political party to make a difference. Political neutral candidates can stand as an independent.”
Local councillors represent the views of local people and work to ensure that the interest of the community are taken into account.
Anyone interested in becoming a councillor will have the opportunity to talk with current councillors between noon and 2pm on Wednesday 19 September in Meridian shopping centre. Alternatively, at Tesco Extra in Havant on Thursday 20 September from noon til 2pm.
