Havant Borough Council is reminding voters in the borough that they can now apply to vote by post in the local elections on May 6.
Elections for Havant Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, the County's Police and Crime Commissioner are planned to be held on that day.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic voters are encouraged to think about voting by post and to register for a postal vote early especially if they are clinically extremely vulnerable or are otherwise at high risk.
Havant Borough Council’s Returning Officer, Brian Wood, said: " Plans are already being put in place to help everyone stay safe while they cast their vote. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure our Polling stations will be COVID secure on the day I would urge residents to think ahead and apply for a postal vote.
Postal votes are a quick, easy and safe way to cast your vote from the comfort of your own home.”
Anyone wishing to vote by post can apply now to ensure their application is processed in time.
It’s easy to apply and residents can find out how by visiting the Electoral Commission website. You must be registered to vote in order to have a say at the elections – the easiest way to register is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
