A seawall has been repaired with a new concrete material which will keep it safe for years to come.
The wall, in Warblington, was damaged earlier this year and has been repaired with a novel fabric, called Concrete Canvas.
The work was carried out by the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership (ESCP), on behalf of Havant Borough Council (HBC). The innovative material is ideal for a repair like this because it is embedded with a concrete fabric that hardens when sprayed with water.
Once in place, cut to size and sprayed, the fabric hardens into a waterproof, energy absorbing concrete casing; perfect for withstanding waves.
Councillor Tim Pike, Cabinet Lead for Finance and Regeneration, has visited the repaired seawall to see how the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership continues to protect the coastline from flood and erosion risk.
He said: “The Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership, on behalf of the council, does a fantastic job at protecting and enhancing our coastline and it’s great to see new and innovative technologies being used to help achieve this.”
