Partnership announcement update

Havant Borough Council has formally agreed that it will be withdrawing from its joint management agreement with East Hampshire District Council – subject to a business case which it will discuss at a council meeting as soon as possible.

The council has also agreed that it will offer Kim Sawyer, who is the current interim Chief Operating Officer, the role of acting Chief Executive at Havant Borough Council until an interim Chief Executive is appointed.

East Hampshire District Council agreed to formally withdraw from the agreement subject to the same conditions at its Full Council meeting last week and it agreed that it will offer Gill Kneller, who is the current Chief Executive for Havant and East Hants, the role of Chief Executive at East Hants - this is subject to a number of things and there is still a process to go through.

Cllr Alex Rennie, Leader of Havant Borough Council, said: "While the partnership has been effective, we believe now is the right time to focus solely on our borough and our priorities. As part of this, I look forward to bringing forward our refreshed Corporate Strategy outlining our vision and priorities.

"Having separate management teams to deliver our new priorities will mean we can act more swiftly and focus exclusively on our borough, delivering for our residents.”
