Havant Borough Council is reminding all residents they need to update or verify their details by Monday 2 September.
Household Enquiry Forms are currently being sent to every address in the borough. Residents are asked to confirm or if necessary to update who is currently living at the address and eligible to vote.
Completing the form is required by law and ensures you are registered to vote. If you don't register you can't vote. This applies to all types of local elections, referendums and parliamentary elections. Registering to vote can also improve your credit rating.
Responding to the form has never been so quick and easy. Residents can choose from online, text, or via an automated phone response service. The details of these services and how to use them are printed on the form.
It is a legal requirement to respond to the Household Enquiry Form, residents could be fined £1,000 if they do not respond.
