The former Mayor of Havant, Councillor Faith Ponsonby, was delighted to present funds, totalling more than £15,000, to her nominated charities; Off the Record, Sands, St Faith’s Big Build and six other small local charities, today (Tuesday 21 November).
The total amount had been raised for the Mayor’s charities 2016-17 from charity events, activities and some generous donations.
The former Mayor held numerous coffee mornings, two quiz nights, a Christmas ball, a classic vehicle run as well as abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, These events were enjoyed by residents of all ages, as well as being good fundraisers.
Councillor Faith Ponsonby said at the ceremony; “I held several very successful events during my year in office and I would like to thank everyone for their support and generosity. I would especially like to thank the Fourteas Tea Rooms and Havant Guitar Orchestra for their time to help at my events and support my fundraising.
“There were also many local companies and individuals, too many to mention, who most generously gave prizes and donations for which I am really grateful. A big thank you to you all. My fundraising events highlighted the great community spirit that is in the borough. Thank you.’
Each charity received:
- Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity) - £4786.14
- Off the Record - £4611.14
- St Faith’s Big Build - £4611.15
- Other small local charities - £1000.00
