Hayling Island skatepark

Essential safety works are currently underway at Hayling Island skatepark to remove items of skate equipment that have structurally failed, following a routine safety inspection.

Despite best efforts to repair some of the ramps, there has been a rapid deterioration to some of the wooden and metal structures which now have to be removed.

The site will re-open with the remaining equipment, which includes a quarter pipe ramp, grind rail, grind box and spine still, in a safe and usable condition.

Havant Borough Council is working closely with a local group of skatepark users on the Hayling Skatepark Project.

The council has secured £55,000 of funding from developer contributions towards the refurbishment of the skatepark.

The Hayling Skatepark Project still needs to secure the remaining funds required to provide a full refurbishment of the skate park, with a fit for purpose concrete facility that will not face the corrosion issues currently encountered.

A new park will provide an exciting new facility which will be fun and welcoming for all ages, abilities and types of wheeled sports for years to come.
