Following a change to the law, the maximum length of time a voter can hold a postal vote changed from indefinitely to a maximum period of three years.
All electors who had a postal vote in place prior to 31 October 2023 will be invited to re-apply.
We encourage electors to re-apply for their postal vote before the deadline of 31 January 2026. If it has not been applied for by this date, their postal vote will be removed.
How we will contact you
An email will be sent to postal voters who have provided us with their email address, with details of how to renew their postal vote application.
To ensure our emails can be identified as being genuine, the email title will be 'Havant Borough Council – Postal Vote Renewal'
The email will be sent from the following address electoral.services.havant.borough.council@notifications.service.gov.uk, using the government’s online notification service, GOV.UK Notify.
If we do not have your email address, we will contact you by post in September.
All electors who have applied for a postal vote since 31 October 2023 will be written to when the third January since application is nearing.
If you have any queries regarding the postal vote reapplication project, please contact the Electoral Services Team at elections.office@havant.gov.uk
