Year Two Architecture students from the University of Portsmouth have proudly presented their design ideas for the future of West Beach, Hayling Island.
West Beach was the focus for the students’ project this year and they have been invited to exhibit their work by Havant Borough Council’s regeneration team. This fits well with the Council’s regeneration programme with West Beach being one of the key regeneration sites in the borough.
The project, 100 Visions, explores how the beach facilities in this superb location could look in future years. The 100 visions include many wonderful ideas of inspirational beauty and innovative practicality.
The students work is currently on display in the Plaza for the next two weeks. Visitors will see how they approached the challenges and explored the forthcoming changes to the local area.
Head of Regeneration at Havant Borough Council, Andrew Biltcliffe, said: "West Beach on Hayling Island is identified as significant to the future development of island’s seafront and the identity of the borough of Havant. It is included in the newly adopted Local Plan 2036 and Regeneration Strategy."
Postcards of each design are also available to take away, for those interested.
